Our Commitment
PokeScan is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards.
Conformance Status
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities.
Accessibility Features
- Semantic HTML structure with proper headings and landmarks
- Keyboard navigation support throughout the application
- ARIA labels on interactive elements and icons
- Sufficient color contrast ratios for text and interactive elements
- Alt text on card images for screen reader users
- Focus indicators on all interactive elements
- Responsive design that works at various zoom levels up to 200%
- No content that flashes more than three times per second
- Form inputs with associated labels
- Error messages that identify the field and describe the error
Known Limitations
While we strive for full accessibility, some areas may have limitations:
- Camera-based scanning: The card scanning feature relies on camera input, which may not be accessible to all users. As an alternative, photo upload is available to scan card images from your device.
- Card images: Some card images from third-party APIs may have limited alt text descriptions. We provide the card name and set information as alternative text.
- Price charts: Future price chart features will include tabular data alternatives for screen reader users.
Assistive Technology Compatibility
PokeScan is designed to be compatible with commonly used assistive technologies including:
- Screen readers (VoiceOver, NVDA, JAWS)
- Screen magnification software
- Speech recognition software
- Keyboard-only navigation
